A New Filter: the Power of Visual Representation

Snapchat, Instagram, emojis, gifs – imagery, now more than ever is the language of our time. The prolific use of social media have leveled the playing field, giving way to a tapestry of visual stories, told through our own unique personal filters, that contribute to a robust visual experience. This panel will show the power of images in repicturing concepts of gender, race, mental illness, LGBTQ, religion and ability, to connect people, evoke conversation and drive change.
