The continuing omnipresence of reissues has made independent labels consider their project choices carefully in order to stand out, mining the private-press and mounds of unreleased recordings in the process. In result, little-known or unissued releases by the likes of Death, Rodriguez and Lavender Country have garnered massive critical acclaim. In discussion, label project managers detail the processes to ensure these projects are a success and the effects they have on the artists' careers.
