The Naked Tungs are an indie garage rock band from Austin, Texas. The four-piece includes Sarah Ronan (vocals/rhythm guitar), Hersh Cohen (vocals/lead guitar), Cooley Curzel (bass), and Riley Corcoran (drums). Although the band officially formed in Austin, the group also has roots in central Florida. In 2013, three of the members (Ronan, Cohen and Curzel) met in Tallahassee, where they attended college. The trio gravitated towards one another out of a mutual respect for artists such as Parquet Courts and Black Lips. After performing at various venues in Tallahassee for two years, they moved to Austin in hopes of meeting other likeminded musicians. After six months of living in Austin, they were introduced to Riley Corcoran, who moved to Austin from Orlando, Florida. With a list of influences including Death Grips and Arctic Monkeys, Corcoran brought a percussive energy that blended with the garage rock grit and experimental tendencies of the original trio. The Naked Tungs officially formed in February 2017. Two months after their formation, the band self-recorded their debut EP, Hear It Calls. The Naked Tungs are currently playing shows around Austin as they work on their next EP.
