Holland Patent Public Library

What I'd Give To Drive The Coast Again

Holland Patent Public Library is a musical act based in Brooklyn, NY, with no ties whatsoever to the physical library that exists in Holland Patent, NY, except that both are strong advocates for reading.

The musical act has written scores for Adult Swim and is currently working on a second album, while the physical library runs a pre-school story hour every Friday at 10:30am.

The band was founded in 2013 by Ryan Dann, a sound designer and composer living in Brooklyn, after self releasing the album Approximosey to friends and family. The library was founded by The Daughters of The Revolution in 1915.

After the release, the band casually consumed other musicians - Brian Carroll (Phantom Public), Kevin Foley (Wargable), and Jen Giammanco (Nico Suave and the Bodacious Supreme). During its 100 years, the library consumed books and minds. And tax dollars presumably.

So you see, they're not so different, the band and the actual library. Both have people, and histories, and both want you to go and visit and make book donations and explore their tiny, tiny, tiny corner of the world.
