John Mills Times Ten at Elephant Room

Date TBA

John Mills Times Ten features a stylistic panorama of compositions, all from the imagination of tenor saxophonist and award-winning jazz composer Dr. John Mills. He keeps the company of many of the very finest players on the scene, most of whom have been performing and recording with TIMES TEN from day one. The 10-piece band’s lineup offers all the colors of a jazz big band, but explores material that takes a big leap beyond that tradition, hitting far- ranging points funky, mysterious and soulful. Get ready to reconsider just what the “Austin Sound” might be.
Dr. John Mills is a composer, arranger and saxophonist who writes and performs across the full spectrum of musical genres in concert and in the recording studio. His works include orchestral arrangements for popular artists including Carmen Bradford, Rosanne Cash, David Byrne, Indigo Girls and Asleep at the Wheel.
Very recently John was honored to perform with Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt and Lyle Lovett at the Hurricane Harvey Benefit. Dr. Mills is a Professor of Jazz Studies at UT Austin's Butler School of Music.
