DJ Mix Master David at 800 Congress

Atlanta-based international DJ Mix Master David originally hails from the small community of Mount Friendship in St Andrew, Jamaica. There, he attended St Theresa’s, the New Day All Age School and Hutton’s Educational Unit before migrating to the USA.

Growing up in a supportive family with religious, strict parents who believe in old school Jamaican values provided David with a very grounded upbringing focused on the importance of education, discipline, respect and hard work.

David was drawn to music from an early age, feeling like a force had taken over. Every day after school David would play music with the community sound system and at age 10 he was certain that music was his calling.

At age 16 David was given the opportunity to be a part of a major Sound System called “Super Saint Disco” in Stony Hill, St. Andrew which afforded him a chance to travel across Jamaica to perform in sound clashes and dances. A friend who was an engineer at popular Jamaican radio station Hot 102 FM often gave David the opportunity to visit the station and eventually he learned how to operate the equipment and produce radio programs.
