Named one of XXL’s “10 Canadians to Know,” Toronto emcee DillanPonders has gone from homeless to packing venues across North America. Shroom Daddy, as fans affectionately call him, is carving his own lane in hip hop his innovatively hazy, yet cutting and perceptive sound and larger than life persona onand off stage. Last year was Ponders’ best to date, with a headlining show at the famous NYC venue Pianos, official SXSW showcase, and the release of his latest project: NO MANS LAND. Described as a trapped-out spitter with a delivery that soundsequal parts as Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott, Ponders’s eflective rhymes and gritty sound make his music perfect for aparty or sombre solo listening. Ponders released his debut album, ACID REIGN, in December 2016 and followed it up in August with NO MANS LAND, which NOW
Toronto called his “sharpest and most reflective” effort to date. He also recently teamed up with Toronto jazz veterans JAZZ MONEY for an ACID JAZZ EP and TD Jazz Festival performance, pairing his rhymes with live instrumentation. DillanPonders has performed alongside some of contemporary hiphop’s leading artists, including Mac Miller, Travi$ Scott, JoeyBada$$, and Ab-Soul.
