JiMMY BRiCKZ

Mar 17, 2018

9:00pm – 9:15pm CT

Ironwood Hall
In The Ends

Representing Toronto's gritty eastside, Scarborough native JiMMY BRiCKZ is quickly becoming one of Canada's most prolific rappers. Like many who grew up in the city's notorious neighbourhood, JiMMY was forced to mature quickly, paving his own lane as both a person and an artist, fighting desperately for everything he has. Hailed as the Prince of the 'Borough, JiMMY quickly gained recognition from fans and critics alike who revelled in his smooth delivery of honest, but not embellished, stories of his life. JiMMY's approach to music is "Jiggy" - a wavy sound to give listeners confidence to be them- selves and not apologize. He explains it's a purposely unique one that's hard to put in a box: "Everyone just rides on the current wave and get considered 'hot' or whatever and that's a sad thing, because once that wave hits the shore all those guys will be forgotten." Confidence can be hard to come by in this part of the city, as JiMMY raps, "See the 'Borough through my eyes, Backwoods and grey skies we could die any minute." His foray into music is to empower not only himself, but his community. Now he's striving to inspire the next generation.
