La Cuneta Son Machín at Flamingo Cantina
LA CUNETA is currently the most significant as well as internationally best-known band in Nicaragua. It won the hearts of the public with its luscious dance rhythm “Cumbia Sobaquiada”, a perfect blend of cumbia, rock, hip hop and ska. Three band members are offspring of the prominent Mejía Godoy family, which counts songwriters Carlos and Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy among its members, as well as the “Prince of Salsa” Luis Enrique.
In seven years with four albums, La Cuneta has had great success on Nicaraguan radio and TV. The band also shared concert stages with international artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Juan Luis Guerra, Luis Enrique, Molotov, Celso Piña, El Gran Silencio, etc. With their third album “Mondongo” they achieved what no Nicaraguan band had ever been able to before them: the nomination for a Grammy for „Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative Album“.
Their last two albums “Mondongo” and “Cañambuco” were produced by the US-American producer Greg Landau (Susana Baca, Maldita Vecindad, Patato), mixed by the renowned engineer and producer Carlos Álvarez (Carlos Vives, Julio Iglesias, Marc Anthony) and mastered by John Greenham.
