John Jacob Magistery
Montreal's JJM doesn’t just make music to connect with people who are ‘surviving the dream’. Driven by the lead singer's obsessive personality, the post-indie band experiments with sides of folk, soul and hip-hop. Though it may be hard to pin down, their identity is strong throughout the genres (like Beck, Bowie or Prince have proven possible). They know who they are and what they stand for. Their art comes from the raw and sometimes violent undercurrents of life in the Americas, struggling and thriving in this collective sensory experience and age. Their live performance showcases their charged emotional energy and vocals with an intent well crafted sound.
