I am Bearwood is the passion project of documentarian and songwriter Chris Brecht. Bearwood, I am is a band of poetic engeniuity and a follow up to Brecht's earlier albums, The Great Ride (2008) and Dead Flower Motel (2011). The songs are melodic, acoustic driven landscapes of lyrical poetry that feature the Appalachian-esque harmonies of Megan LaPrelle and railroad accordion of Matt Mollica. The band gained a modest popularity playing an underground gig at Austin's legendary Hole in the Wall for the better part of the last two years. In recent months, the band is often joined by Megan's sister, Courtney Laprelle who enhances the three part harmonies into four part harmonies. The sisters have a natural musical chemistry that runs deep as the layers of harmonies inside the songs.
