The Deer at Victorian Room at The Driskill

Date TBA

Winter To Pry

Transcendental Texas folk and stargaze surf-western band The Deer create psychotropic soundscapes and tranquil, vivid dream-pop. They are borne of Austin in a densely-creative atmosphere. Frontwoman Grace Rowland Park (The Blue Hit), upright bassist Jesse Dalton (MilkDrive), guitarist Michael McLeod (Good Field, Linklater film composer), drummer Alan Eckert, and string player Noah Jeffries (MilkDrive, South Austin Jug Band) have hit their stride together.
The group formed in 2012 and released "An Argument for Observation" under the band name "Grace Park and The Deer". The songs have a dark, folky feel; eerily lilting melodies with unexpected subjects.
Their second album "On the Essence of the Indomitable Spirit" (2015) is dedicated to a lost band member's memory, and was their first release under the band name "The Deer".
Their most recent album “Tempest and Rapture” (2016) marries their brand of moody Southern Gothic with symphonic psychedelia.
The Deer were one of Austin Music Awards' Best Performing Folk Bands for 3 years; a 2017 nomination pends. They were also recipients of a major grant from Black Fret in 2017.
