Mountain Time at Friends
Mountain Time (formerly known as Zookeeper) is the home of Chris Simpson (formerly of Mineral, and The Gloria Record) and his songs. Simpson's passion for music and singing was cemented from a young age, first by his mother's love of Michael Jackson, and The Bee Gees, later veering through the worlds of thrash metal and punk rock as an early teen in Denver, Colorado. Simpson emerged in Texas with the emotional and dynamic bombast of Mineral in the mid-90's and continued to hone his voice and vision in navel-gazers The Gloria Record through the early '00s. By 2005 Simpson settled into Zookeeper, which started as a loose collective of rambling eclectic indie-folk, and grew into the more autonomous work of the swan song, Pink Chalk LP (2014). Simpson reunited with Mineral in 2014 for a world tour to acknowledge his former bands rabid and enduring cult fan-base, after which he has retooled with a new moniker Mountain Time, and a fresh vision, replete with lush strings and horns. A Mountain Time full-length LP is imminent in 2018.
