H. “Doobie” Powell is a native of Hartford, CT born to Gospel/Jazz singer Jacquelyn Powell and founding member of Sugar Hill Gang, Hubert Powell Sr. From the age of 7 to his 5 independent albums Doobie has revolutionized the way fans experience music and artists perform. His mezzo tenor tones infused with jazz riffs amidst his funk, gospel, and hip hop arrangements are the sum total of The Doobie Powell Experience. Doobie Powell collaborations include co-writing of The Black Nativity film score with Raphael Saadiq, performances with iconic artists such as Kim Burrell, Harry Connick Jr., Musiq SoulChild, Robert Glasper, Kelly Price, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and the legendary Clark Sisters and more. Doobie continues to spread the message of love, unity, and life with audiences across the world. Doobie founded Chip Off the Block Productions to serve has the production house for his albums. He released his version of Pharrell’s Happy in his first mixtape teaser in 2014 bringing new visibility to his versatility in music and reaching fans of all ages across the globe.
