Thee Conductor at Central Presbyterian Church
The career of Austin-based musician Jason Butler has been peppered with more than a handful of impressive collaborations. Under the moniker Thee Conductor, he’s released material with the likes of Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Bill Dolan (5ive Style & Heroic Doses) & Bonnie "Prince" Billy.
Released on October 20th, his debut LP "Cotton Tornado" boasts contributions from Bonnie "Prince" Billy, NYC avant percussionist Kevin Shea, Austin's own Jana Horn & A.Sinclair along w/ notable heavy horn player Michael Patrick St. Clair. Recorded in Austin, TX at King Electric Studios w/ engineer Justin Douglas, Butler incorporated acoustic, electric, string & brass instrumentation. Very much a product of its many creators & outside influences, a press statement describes his LP as a “structured & intentional, yet open & collaborative, art project.”
Butler (Thee Conductor), creates a musical journey rooted in pop with well placed string, horn & vocal orchestration. These elements were all shaped by his childhood influences which includes Vince Guaraldi & Ennio Morricone. As he matured as an artist he connected w/ the works of Jim O'Rourke, Andy Kaufman & other artistic gems.
