Zimbabwean born, Londoner ESKA is female solo artist who is a creative force to reckoned with; imagine the psyche soul of Minnie Riperton, unexpected, whimsical melodic twists of Kate Bush and ornate detail of folk legends Pentangle arranged in an intoxicating meld for the post-digital age, and you’re only getting close. ESKA has been compared to Joni Mitchell, but her sound is a unique and complex tapestry of folk, soul, and rock n roll that has to be heard to be believed.
When ESKA’s eponymous debut album was released in the UK in 2015, BBC tastemaker Gilles Peterson proclaimed ESKA “the finest UK singer” and The Independent called her “one of the most idiosyncratic and original talents”. It was subsequently nominated for the Mercury Prize in the UK; an Album of the Year by a panel of the industry's most respected music critics. ESKA has wowed crowds everywhere from Glastonbury to London’s Roundhouse. ESKA’s list of collaborations over the course of her career is as bravely diverse as her music itself; Grace Jones, Zero 7, UNKLE, Wiley, A$AP Rocky and even designer Rick Owens at Paris Fashion Week. In 2018, ESKA will unveil new music from her hugely anticipated follow up album.
