Sitarist Indrajit Banerjee is one of the leading exponents of the Maihar Gharana. He has a special touch on Sitar combined with technical virtuosity, sensitivity, and lyricism. He is an A grade artist of Radio and National Television, artist for Indian Council Of Cultural Relations. He has performed extensively throughout the world, and collaborated with great musicians including Sting, Adam Smirnoff( lettuce) Fareed Haque,,Atash,Craig Pruess,Jeff Cofin,Sherman Brothers Yaron Herman.
Indrajit's family includes multiple illustrious musicians including his sitarist mother, Manju Banerjee, his first inspiration. Indrajit was trained under his maternal grandfather, Bankim Kumar Pal, of Etwa Gharana ,then Pdt. Manilal Nag of Bishnupur Gharana. After He then took intensive training from his uncle, Pdt Kartick Kumar, a senior disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar. All of this training developed a strong foundation for Indrajit’s music, and creative individuality. He established a school in Austin www.antaramusic.com .
