It’s been a quick rise for Swedish indie pop quartet Hater! Forming in Malmö, they released their debut ‘You Tried’ last year that resulted in Gorilla Vs. Bear listing it as one of their favourite albums of 2017 and Stereogum declaring them one of their favourite new bands of the year. An assured and consistent record, ‘You Tried’ blends jangle with grit!
Hater soon followed with their new ‘Red Blinders’ EP distinguishing their very own super polished and intricate guitar-led dreamy pop further. Featuring their first singles on Fire Records, the wonderfully forlorn and truly lovesick ‘Blushing’ and ‘Rest’ has seen Lauren Laverne at BBC6 music and BBC Radio 1 swooning at their ‘crystalline scandi pop’.
Earning comparisons to Alvvays, The Pretenders and even Jefferson Airplane, Hater are indeed new to the game with one European tour behind them that included Eurosonic and Ment Festival 2018. Next stop Austin for SXSW!
They return with their second album later this year, details to be announced.
