Sports & New Media Meet Up

While there may be talk of twitter in decline, the social media app is still one of the #1 ways that sports reporters get their information to the sports fan. In fact, a 2014 Forbes article had this to say about twitter: “According to Navigate Research — a Chicago-based research, measurement and analysis company — sports fans are 67 percent more likely to use Twitter as their second-screen viewing experience compared to non-sports fans”. Recognizing its significance, Twitter and the NFL partnered this year to live stream for free ten games worldwide but how will that affect live TV rights? After this season, one that saw a decline in NFL viewers will the NFL revisit this? What if any impact did it have on the ratings and were fans receptive to it in a climate that saw more and more fans cord cutting? Avid sports fan, come join the discussion and let’s share our ideas on sports and new media with more than 140 characters.
