Leveraging Film & Entertainment To Advance STEAM

Mar 11, 2017

12:30pm – 1:30pm CT

Film, TV and entertainment influences everything. S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) experts and advocates believe that these platforms can and should be leveraged to increase underrepresented communities interest in STEAM careers, including those in the innovation, entrepreneurship and investment economy that are represented during SXSW. This is starting to happen with films like Hidden Figures that chronicle the life of Katherine G. Johnson, an American physicist, space scientist, and mathematician that made fundamental contributions to the United States' aeronautics and space programs with the early application of digital electronic computers at NASA.
