How Do We Stop Drug Deaths at Music Festivals?
Stopping young people from dying of drug-related causes at music festivals isn’t an easy subject for event organizers to talk about. The historic approach of taking a prohibitionist attitude towards substance abuse, coupled with punitive legislation simply hasn’t worked. A grassroots community of harm reduction experts believes the only way forward is to stop looking at drug use as a criminal justice issue and instead to tackle it as a public health concern. The panel will talk about the challenges festivals face, and offer practical advice for both organizers and attendees looking to make festivals as safe as possible. #partysafer
