This session will feature a team from one of the largest and most innovative transgender health care programs in the country to speak on the challenges and successes of establishing a new and sometimes controversial program within a community healthcare clinic, and how this successful model can be implemented across the country. In 2013, St. John’s (providing low cost or free health care to those in need) made history by becoming the first and only community health center in South L.A. to offer a Transgender Health Program (THP), starting with just nine patients, and now serving over 1,000.
