Do Music Journalists Matter Anymore?

In a digital age where anyone/everyone has an opinion and the whole industry of journalism seems to be going the way of the record store, the role of professional music writers seems endangered or a relic of a pre-internet era. On all sorts of online forums and online stores, everyone shares their opinion about music or shares their choices through social media. It's not an easy world for a writer to survive anymore. What their role is, what service they provide and what kind of audience is left for them are all questions up for grabs.
