Building on the conversations from last year’s SXSW about the future direction of high-resolution sound, this session looks at what it will take to move hi-res into the mainstream. As music consumption shifts inexorably to streaming, is there the opportunity to re-introduce improved sound quality as standard? While cinema-goers and TV viewers are served up the latest surround sound and ever higher definition screens, your average music listener remains short-changed. What needs to happen and how long before the option of better quality sound is available to all?
