BYkids is a global, award-winning, non-profit organization that uses storytelling to inform, engage and inspire action. BYkids empowers kids from all over the world to make documentaries about their lives by providing the necessary training and equipment, thus enabling them to represent their local community on the international stage. We hope to give the young filmmakers and their audiences a sense of agency in a world that often seems out of control. Faiza Almontaser, a Yemeni immigrant in Brooklyn who faced bullying because of her Islamic identity, shares how she found a creative outlet for self-expression, and confronts what it means to be Muslim and American in a post-9/11 world.
