Funding and fiscal sponsorship for multimedia projects are key programming elements for nonprofits working to strengthen the media landscape in specific communities across the United States. With missions to transform longstanding narratives, spark localized storytelling, and create opportunities for artists to bring multimedia projects to life, nonprofits are using grant making and fiscal sponsorship programs to exponentially increase positive community impact. This session explores the best practices, strategies and tactics employed by three organizations working in Detroit, Chicago and Milwaukee respectively, and examines the challenges the organizations face in their work.
