The Future of Human Genetic Engineering
After four billion years of evolution, our species is on the verge of for the first time taking active control of our genetics. The genetic engineering revolution will not only eliminate many genetic diseases which have plagued our ancestors for millennia, but also fundamentally alter the way we make babies and the nature of the babies we make. This revolution will be our greatest opportunity and also our greatest challenge -- and it has already begun.
SciFi novelist and technology/national security expert Jamie Metzl has served in the US National Security Council, has written widely on these issues, and is launching a global, species-wide dialogue on the future of human genetic engineering.
