Designing Infrastructure for Autonomous Cars
The conversation about autonomous vehicles starts and stops with in-vehicle technologies, and the discussion about Smart Cities doesn't include roads, even though cities are defined by their transportation infrastructure. Meanwhile, roads compete with Smart Cities’ efforts for funding, and the quality of our roads is a major limitation to deploying autonomous vehicles.
It's time to bring roads into the discussion about autonomous vehicles and Smart Cities, and explore the role roads play in supporting autonomous vehicles and building Smart Cities.
