Skye Ashbrook and John Gomi currently live and work in Austin Texas. Working individually and together for 20+ years, they have active individual art practices that unite more often than not. Skye works in sound, recorded image, and immersive installation. John works with sound and collage, experimentation in publishing, and has spent much time creating retail as a curated experience. Both embrace technology as an important part of creating new art experiences, but never for it’s own sake- this tension enables exciting new work to emerge. They just finished running a pop-up gallery / retail space called Mai-Dez 2016. Skye is also a performing member of My Education, and John has a musical alter ego City of Hungry Ghosts, both of whom are in the process of releasing new recordings. Beat.imprint are currently finishing their second release - a full length recording "Permanent Winter" which will be out soon on vinyl, digital, and cassette. This album is created from the audio of an 6-channel video, audio, and mixed media installation of the same name that premiered last December.
