ToTi at Speakeasy
Breaking the barrier of what is possible to do with twelve strings, ToTi is presenting a combination of latin rhythms, with samba, Bossa Nova, electronic music and improvisation. Maurício Takara plays an electrify cavaquinho (traditional Brazilian small guitar) and his own creation: an electrify skateboard turned into a rhythmical instrument, while Henrique Diaz control and process a cuatro, a type of Latin America acoustic guitar.
M. Takara is the solo career in which the Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Maurício Takara puts together all his music background and innovative approach, creating a unique mixture of strings (Brazilian acoustic guitar), drums and electronic beats.
Besides his solo career, Takara is also the drummer of Hurtmold and São Paulo Underground, playing in numerous projects with artists like Pharoah Sanders, Mia Doi Todd, Rob Mazurek, Yusef Lateef, Lee Ranaldo, Prefuse 73 and Naná Vasconcelos.
