"Cheetah Chrome is one of the true icons of rock n' roll and the sooner more people get that through their fucking heads the better" -Slash (from "Cheetah Chrome; A Dead Boy's Tale From the Front Lines of Punk Rock")

Cheetah Fucking Chrome. The Godfather of Punk Rock Guitar. The name hits you in the head with a hammer, just like the songs. The ringing, opening chords of “Sonic Reducer” are as iconic as punk rock itself. They prepare you for the onslaught of what is about to happen, and it’s a heart pumping, three-minute anthem of freedom.

The rock ‘n’ roll story of Cheetah Chrome begins in Cleveland, OH in 1974, with the formation of the “classic” lineup of Rocket From The Tombs, arguably one of the most influential bands that lasted less than a year. Cheetah and Johnny Blitz moved on from RFTT to form Dead Boys with Jimmy Zero, Jeff Magnum, and Stiv Bators in 1976. Dead Boys ended up being a staple at CBGB throughout the most significant time in punk rock history, alongside the Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, etc. The Dead Boys shows, however, were the most memorable due to the explosive nature of the live show, largely due to the stage antics of Bators and the nonstop barrage of Cheetah-driven riffs.

In 1977, he released his first album with The Dead Boys for Sire Records, 'Young, Loud and Snotty'. The record kicks off with "Sonic Reducer,"a track co-written by Chrome and described by all All Music Guide as "one of punk's great anthems." CBGB owner Hilly Kristal managed the band after being introduced to him by The Ramones, and their riotous and raunchy performances at the club were the stuff of legends, as was their wild reputation off stage. 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the Dead Boys "Young, Loud, and Snotty", one of the most recognized and influential punk rock records ever made. “Sonic Reducer,” “Ain’t Nothin’ To Do,” “Caught With Meat In Your Mouth,” “I Need Lunch,” and pretty much every other track has made it onto every greatest punk rock songs of all time list. These songs have been covered by Guns N' Roses, Pearl Jam, The Ramones, Rollins Band, Overkill, Green River, and more.

Aside from making cameo appearances and being portrayed by Rupert Grunt in major films such as "CBGB", Cheetah is still on the road cranking his amp on sold out shows throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia and beyond. As legendary punks icons are disappearing, Cheetah Fucking Chrome is still doing what he does best—bringing pure, unbridled punk rock ‘n’ roll to your ears.
