Phone Call at The Sidewinder Outside

Date TBA

Lovin' Every Minute Of It

Phone Call’s new record “Hang-Ups” won’t be put on hold. With their signature sound of sex, bounce, and swagger, the album nods to Timbaland, Justice, Chromeo, MIA, Prince, Zapp, and early 2000's R’n’B. Bailey Winters and John Zeigler have been collaborating since their days at California College of the Arts in Oakland where they bonded over a love of post-punk groups like Blondie and Elvis Costello. Before moving to Portland, they formed the nu-disco band Strength which would last for years. Now, as Phone Call, the duo is “bumping and grinding to a more modern beat.”† The new record delivers Winters’ flirtatious lyrics and Zeigler’s fun, synthesized hooks, “and all the better that no soul or legitimacy is lost along the way.”* The two enlisted the production and mixing skills of Jeremy Sherrer (Modest Mouse, Radiation City, Minden), who added essential snap to the album’s drums. It’s R’n’B, new-wave, and it’s pop. From the strange vanity of “Bring Your Camera” to the shameless “Loving Every Minute Of It”, “Hang-Ups” is an album about fame, bad breaks, and good sex.
