Tomás Doncker & The True Groove All-Stars fuse funk, rock, punk, pop and soul in a modern day Motown style revue. The high-powered group features Doncker's agitprop-funk, Marla Mase's post-punk dreamscapes, and Phoebe Nir's theatrical punk-pop stylings. Rounding out the group are A-list musicians whose credits range from working with the legendary Aretha Franklin, Cyndi Lauper, Dumpstaphunk leader Ivan Neville, to iconoclast Bill Laswell.

Doncker cut his teeth as guitarist with such genre-busting groups as James Chance & The Contortions, Defunkt, J. Walter Negro & The Loose Jointz, and more — making him a prime mover on NYC’s early-‘80s “No Wave” scene. He toured and recorded in Japan with jazz pianist Masabumi Kikuchi, and produced sessions with Bootsy Collins, Yoko Ono, and Grammy-nominated Reggae vocal group The Itals, to name a few. His work with iconic artists including Madonna, Bonnie Raitt, Meshell Ndegeocello, Corey Glover of Living Colour; Parliament Funkadelic keyboardist Amp Fiddler, 2013 Grammy award nominee Shamekia Copeland, Artist John Ransom Phillips and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa has given Doncker keen insight and experience as the founder and CEO of NYC's fastest rising record label, True Groove Records.

True Groove’s high-powered house band "The True Groove All-Stars" provides backing for all of the acts on the label.

Tomás along with his partner/engineer/guitarist James Dellatacoma recently produced James Chance & The Contortions first album in over 25 years, “The Flesh Is Weak”. The critically acclaimed album is in heavy rotation throughout the country and was featured in Mojo, Spin, Brooklyn Vegan, NPR’s “All Songs Considered”, and on The Henry Rollins Show on KCRW. Tomás is also the lead guitarist for The Contortions.
