Best Fern is the experimental-pop duo of Alexia Avina & Nick Schofield. Formed in winter 2016, they are artistically rooted in the Plant and Oh Hi collectives based in Montreal's Mile End neighbourhood. 

Since their first show in January 2016, their work has been acclaimed by blogs Silent Shout, Consequence of Sounds and Exclaim! with Chart Attack chiming “their debut EP is patient and glowing and warm – it will replenish you like morning light”.

Career highlights include two mini-tours supporting Merganzer (Timber Timbre, Andy Shauf), performing at Constellation Records for Suoni per il Popolo and opening a sold-out show for Angel Olsen at the Rialto Theatre during POP Montreal 2016.

Musically, Best Fern draws on electronic and pop styles citing artists Panda Bear, Jessy Lanza and Majical Cloudz as inspirations. Nick and Alexia describe their work as "cute, minimal, dream-pop" comprised of delicate vocal/guitar looping over sampled rhythmic electronics.

Oh Hi records released their self-titled debut EP in August 2016 – it's available as a (pink) split-tape with Loon and digital-download on Bandcamp.
