Peter Bennett is a researcher and designer of new human-computer interactions, working both at Bristol University and the Pervasive Media Studio. His research is driven by the vision of giving tangible form to digital bits, bringing virtual information out of the computer into the physical world. Peter's approach has been shaped by his journey from Cybernetics, through Digital Media Art and Design to his PhD in developing new digital musical instruments, positioning him at the cutting edge of art, science, technology and design.

Peter's most recent project 'Tangible Memories' (www.tangible-memories.com) explores the stories told around objects in care homes and how these stories can be captured and shared. Previous projects have included: ChronoTape (www.chronotape.com), an augmented-reality paper timeline for annotating family history research; ChronoTable, a 'research-seismograph' for archeologists; BeatBearing (www.beatbearing.co.uk), a drum machine with ball bearings for beats; and SensaBubble, a scented soap-bubble display that projects information on to the surface of each bubble. Other ongoing projects, collaborations and interests include the development of magical technology, magnetic pixels, slow technology, teleporters, robotic origami and lo-fi haptic displays.

Currently Peter is on a two month residency at the Pervasive Media Studio working on the concept of 'Resonant Bits' (www.resonantbits.com), or how to interact with your digital device through the use of physical resonance. Through collaboration with four other artists/designers/makers, he has been developing wine-glass controlled apps, a device for changing the perception of food, breath controlled origami, a self-bouncing ball, and digital petri dishes for evolving digital lifeforms.

Verity McIntosh is the Studio Producer at Watershed's multi-disciplinary R&D lab, the Pervasive Media Studio. She curates a vibrant mix of projects and events and works closely with a community of over 100 Studio residents, including artists, creative companies, technologists and academics. As a creative producer she works with the teams and individuals to develop, expand and realise their ideas. She also programmes a regular series of talks and events, including the Friday lunchtime talk series, and is always on the lookout for new ideas and emerging talent.

Previous key projects have included international arts commission, The Playable City Award which invites creative practitioners from all disciplines to respond to the concept of a city as a personable, playable and social space that can be reconfigured and re-imagined by its citizens. Verity was the lead producer for the 2013 and 2014 Playable City Award winners Hello Lamp Post and Shadowing, both of which were nominated amongst the Design Museum's Designs of the Year and have gone on to tour internationally.

Outside of her role at Watershed, Verity is co-producer of This Happened Bristol, part of a global network of talks focussing on the stories behind interaction design. She is an enthusiastic advocate for work that is experimental, embraces risk and that is interdisciplinary by design. She is also an occasional public speaker, guest lecturer and writer of things.
