Satire = making fun of something to expose its truth. This workshop explores one central question: How effective is broadcast satire (TV, online video and podcast) at communicating the news?
Let's survey the starburst of modern comedy-news programming. And ask, are we in the golden age of comedy news? Who is breaking new ground as a journalist-comedian?
We will look briefly at satirical news’ history, but workshop will focus mainly on the modern crop of comic journalists. Expect to view comic video clips/hear selection of audio pieces that have impacted the nation, and learn how to try your hand at creating satirical news from a comedy-news creator (News Hangover) and comedy-news scholar.
