In late 2015 the band trekked to Omaha, Nebraska where they recorded at Connor Oberst’s ARC Studios; home of producer Mike Mogis and location of recent recordings by Bright Eyes, First Aid Kit, Jenny Lewis amongst others. There they recorded their debut album with Sydney native and long-time collaborator Tony Buchen at the helm.
In December 2015, the band released “Bulimic” - a 7 minute epic - “Just when you thought Spookyland couldn’t get any more emotionally impactful, they find a way. This is a hungry band” - The Ripe. Follow-up track “God’s Eyes” received similar praise – “holy frick… Spookyland is the most mind-bogglingly talented and unique sounding bands I've heard in quite a while. There isn't much that's as impressing to me as a band that can consistently deliver quality tracks like this” – Indie Shuffle.
Spookyland’s debut album “Beauty Already Beautiful” is due for release in May 2016.
