Trees, Tees & Tacos…
We all know the SMUC THE WORLD who gives back to the Midland community with his annual “Music For A Cause”, “Back To School” and “Thanksgiving” drives and giveaways, but who is this generous Midland entrepreneur really; a Hip Hop artist, a successful business owner, some sort of modern day robin hood? Yeah, that just about sums it up… Along side of running his printing company, SMUC still manages to dedicate his spare time and generosity to giving back to the less fortunate. All this, while cleverly staying relevant in the Hip Hop community as one of Midland’s finest emcee’s. Known for his “old school Texas sound with a new school Texas feel”, SMUC embraces the Texas staple and is the first to admit, “I smoke a lot, drink occasionally and love tacos”; but then again, you don’t have to be from Texas to agree.

Kicking the New Year off with the “Round Here It Don’t Stop” EP, SMUC delivers on staying pertinent and following through with plans and goals. A few opened titled projects to expect in 2016 will feature tracks from Trae The Truth, Lucky Luciano, Snow Tha Product, Chalie Boy, Coast and many others. Dabbing into the world of deejay, SMUC has put his hands on some Technics 1200s and hopes to hook up some of his chorus’ with his own cuts and scratches – this man never seizes to amaze. With a slew of new videos produced in the great states of Colorado, Nevada, New Orleans and hometown Texas, 2016 has already gotten off on the right foot for this young entrepreneur.
As usual, Smuc’s music production team is as solid as it gets. The winning team consists of a variety of styles beginning with Scotty-Wu (Kansas), who offers a different but unique sound. West Texas’ Boogie Beats comes with the Hip Hop funk mixed with a gangsta style. Anthony Russ (Houston), who is just so versatile, you never know what he’s going to bang out. Roskama (Midland), a new age hippie with the engineering ‘know how’ to seal the deal. Others team members include ICEE studios from San Antonio, Royalty Recording, The Green House, both from Midland and some of the dopest artists in Texas, Supa is Throwed, Anthony Reyes, Scryve Dezigns and Dat Boi Drew.
Under the belief that the old school way of grinding is taking it back to the “Good ole days of footwork”, we continue to see it manifesting in everything he touches and in his undeterred way of hustling. Laying a foundation for the future youth while bringing more awareness to the Mexican hip hop culture, SMUC says it best when he states, “Being Mexican in the rap game is an obstacle in itself, one that we’ve constantly have had to work on overcoming. Just us knowing that we’ve always been considered the ‘underdog’, well that stereotype has given us reason to grind harder to get where we need to be. Never count us out, ALWAYS count us in”… Need I say more? You can follow SMUC THE WORLD on Twitter @SMUCTHEWORLD and on Facebook.com/Smuc The World.
