Exponent, at the same time, of the most traditional and innovative Cuban music, Kelvis is master at making coexist traditional rhythms like son, sucu sucu, cha cha cha, songo, conga, merengue, milonga, among others, also influenced by funk, rock and pop.
To his envelopes melodies and passionate and funny lyrical texts, is added his surprising know-how when it comes to take the improvisation. Former member of the group Habana Abierta, with whom he recorded three albums, he has two solo records ("Kelvis" and "Dolor con amor se cura") and one a duet with the famous composer Descemer Bueno: "Amor y Música". He co-authored the soundtrack of the film Havana Blues, who won the 2006 Goya Award from Spanish Film Academy for Best BSO.
His ability to appreciate so many different kinds of music, his talent to bring this inspiration into his work and come up with a sound that's all his own that's what has gone into making Kelvis Ochoa such a vital force in Cuban music today.
