Jared & The Mill was founded in 2011 by a collection of six good timing and hard working musicians from the heart of the southwest - best described as a family of long time friends creating a uniquely contemporary western sound reminiscent of the turbulently beautiful desert home they hail from. While the influences on Jared & The Mill are clear, the way in which they use their influences and experiences to blend and shape their western-indie rock sound is unexpected. With the lively instrumental brightness of folk, classic country, and modern rock that has been compared to Buffalo Springfield, Arcade Fire, The Pogues, The Band, and Waylon Jennings, merged with rich harmonies and melodic catchiness implicative of contemporary pop, and lyrics piercing with reflection, twangy tension, and a search for meaning, Jared & The Mill isn't simply another revival band at the heels of another trend. To put it plainly, when you hear it, you get it, Jared & The Mill is from the Southwest, they like to have a rowdy time, and have found a modern western genre of their own.
Relentlessly touring the U.S. and Canada, blowing through one van transmission, becoming more familiar with interstate gas stations than their own homes, independently writing and recording two releases, and grass rooting fans for the past four years, Jared & The Mill has already achieved more than they thought they ever could as an independent band. They have garnered not only a loyal and diverse fan base, but also a bond and sound between their members that continues to be matured, rediscovered, and strengthened through all the victories and defeats that come from constant travel and work. Since the beginning, connecting with their fans, and giving them a great night out, as Jared and the fellas repeatedly emphasize, is not only the most important thing to the band, but it's the reason they continue to have the privilege to do what they love. Following the March 2015 self release of their EP 'Life We Chose' Jared & The Mill's wheels have kept turning, engaging a national following that continues to grow, touring and playing alongside fellow rising acts, and landing shows with established artists. Jared & The Mill has shared the stage with Zac Brown, Phox, John Butler Trio, Barry Gibb, Run River North, Della Mae, Frontier Ruckus, Little May, Son Little, and has continued to gain multiple appearances at music festivals such as SXSW, Summerfest, CMJ, and Life is Beautiful.
Jared & The Mill will be finishing off 2015 with a national coheadling tour splitting up lengths of the road with friends, Frontier Ruckus, Air Traffic Controller, and Brumby. They will be heading back into the studio again with producer Ryan Hewitt in early 2016, recording new singles to release through the spring and summer in anticipation for a full length release to come.
