Fade Up Fade Out Bye Bye, from Concord, CA, has been a band since somewhere between 2012 and 2014. At first, it was just four people who got together at Kyle’s place for New Years Eve and made music together, for each other and for fun. Kyle had a computer, some electric drums and guitars, a keyboard, some microphones, and all that happened was they plugged shit in and pressed record. The music started out very rudimentary and crude, but with time, the musicians got more comfortable with each other, and their musical output deepened.
In 2015, A full fledged band broke out. They played shows at bars, hair salons, jewelry shops and a music festival. They continued their recording spirit and recorded some live acoustic shows in such diverse locations as a jewelry shop, a real estate office, and a hair salon. The group is: Danny Webber, Kyle Newacheck, Peter Spryer, Josh Wolf, and Kayhan Ahmadi.
Danny sings and plays keys mostly, Kyle sings and plays guitar and slide whistle, Josh sings and plays drums and mandolin, while Peter holds down the bass, and Kayhan rules over the guitar. They also have a plethora of guest artist appearances on their records. On Volume One, Jay Whitlatch (Aspect, The Bumbleweeds) played most of the guitar solos, adding reverby bluesy feels to Best Tastin’, and a great rockin feel for Cocaine, among others. He’s back here on Vol 2, filling in some short interstitials on his 12-string guitar. Fade also had others, including Blake Anderson, who wrote and sang Theremin City, and Louis Newacheck, who wrote and sang Welcome to the Circus. Josh wrote and sang Pencil Drawing, but Danny went in and re-recorded the vocals with his own voice impersonating Josh’s performance. Needless to say, Danny’s vocals are what you hear on the record. Josh and Kyle sang Billy McBigBills.
