Julian K. Petty is a Partner at the international law firm Nixon Peabody LLP. He is a member of the firm’s intellectual property counseling and transactions group where he leads the entertainment practice.

Julian provides strategic legal, career and business guidance to a variety of talent and corporate clients in music, TV, film, new media and book publishing. He is recognized for his talents as a pro-active dealmaker and industry leader in helping clients “cross-over” from one area of entertainment into another.

Prior to joining Nixon, Julian was a Partner at Fox Rothschild LLP where he was instrumental in establishing an entertainment practice and growing the department to 15 attorneys. Before practicing law, Julian spent several years working in the technology sector in both business development and marketing capacities.

Julian is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA), the Beverly Hills Bar Association and is a proud supporter of the Foundation for Second Chances.

Julian is a graduate of Howard University and Fordham Law School.
