So how does a guy performing acoustic solo sets make the leap to having a single licensed by one of the most popular sports in the country? Scott started earning his chops playing lounges throughout Austin, Texas before landing with his first band, Suicide Pistols. He later became the front man for Southbound Drive. Their first full album, Agnes, was recorded in 2012 and was produced by Grammy nominee Chris "Frenchie" Smith.
It was a single from the album, Marigold, that initially caught the attention of The Smalls, a UK-based music blog which used the song for one of its global music contests. But imagine Scott's excitement when NASCAR approached the band wanting to use Marigold for its weekly RaceDay show, which aired before each of the ten races leading up to the Cup Series finals! That’s not all, Marigold placed 2nd in Singer-Songwriter and 3rd in Love Songs at the 2014 Austin Songwriter’s Group Song Contest. Sponsored to attend the ASG Symposium 2015, Scott was picked up by a guest publisher to co-write in Nashville, TN.
Scott is hoping lightning strikes twice, maybe a third time. He and Chris "Frenchie" Smith teamed up once again working on Scott's 2nd solo EP, entitled Sleeper, with a production schedule spanning late 2013 and a release in early 2014. Now, having teamed up with Grammy and Academy Award winning engineer/producer Chet Himes to design and open Chicken Run Studios in Austin the sky is the limit…and Scott is chomping at the bit to bring his latest vision to his loyal fans!
