The Memories were formed at a crash pad in southeast Portland (OR) in the summer of 2010 by boyhood friends and White Fang bandmates Rikky Gage and Kyle Handley. Combining their longtime love of oldies like the Everly Brothers and Roy Orbison with their mutual fascination with the lo-fi sounds like Television Personalities and The Clean, their self-titled debut album was an instant lo-fi pop classic. Initially released on their own cassette label Gnar Tapes, the album quickly caught the attention of NY based label Underwater Peoples, who issued it on vinyl in 2012. Around the same time, the band was discovered by Burger Records who reissued the first album on cassette before pressing the band's second LP "Love Is The Law" in 2013 followed by the cassette EPs "Rainy Day" and "Breezy Evening", and live album "Live At Burger", recorded by Cameron Crowe of Audacity at the Burger Records store in Fullerton, California.

The Memories toured with many other Burger Records bands as well as R. Stevie Moore, The Growlers, and Sonny & The Sunsets before releasing the 7" EP "American Summer" on Chicago label Randy Records and the "Crash On My Heart" cassingle on NY label OSR Tapes. The musical core of Rikky and Kyle with bassist and contributing songwriter Izak Arida have remained while a large rotating cast of drummers including Garrett Goddard (King Tuff, Girls, The Cuts) and Chris Scott (Guantanamo Baywatch) have passed through the band since their first started performing live in the autumn of 2010. Their most recent LP "Touched By An Angel" was released on Lolipop Records of Los Angeles, with a cassette version co-released with Burger Records. The Memories' next LP "Hot Afternoon", produced by Sonny Smith (Sonny & The Sunsets), will be released on Burger Records in October 2014.
