His journey into the music industry is truly a unique one. He began writing, directing, and producing independent films as a Film/Theatre Major at the University of Texas at Austin. After a few years of success he made the abrupt decision to stop making films so he can focus on something else. He then began a life as a promoter starting a very successful promotions and marketing company in Austin, Texas. After years of organizing film festivals, music festivals, special events, and fashion shows he was forced to take along break to battle his depression and severe anxiety disorder. During this time he turned to writing music as a form of therapy and it was the only thing to keep him sane. And after a failed suicide attempt in 2011, he made a decision that changed his life forever. He knew what he was meant to do with his life and wanted to help others with music.
He began his solo career in 2012 and immediately made his presence known taking the local music community by storm. He released his debut album The Love or Hate Me, which was critically acclaimed and well received for its deep and intense subject matter. His raw and emotional live performances captivated audiences and others started to take notice. In a very short period of time Eric White put together an incredible resume opening for artists like Kendrick Lamar, Immortal Technique, Slum Village, Lil Keke, Lil Flip, and Snow tha Product. He was asked to perform at The Red Gorilla Music Festival in 2013, and then invited to be an Official SXSW Artist in 2014. He then had the opportunity to headline the We From Austin Tour in the summer of 2014.
As an artist he is compared most often to Eminem meets Kanye West, but it is Eric White's ability to make relatable music with intimate and personal content that is most refreshing. He is a songwriter, artist, producer, and deeply involved in every aspect of his career and musical direction. He is thought provoking, unapologetic, real, and uses poetic tones to express harsh realities. He is poised to have a breakout year and is currently working on his sophomore album. He was invited back to be an Official SXSW Artist in 2015. He is a must see artist and performer and deserves your attention.
