Design in Tech Report

Sunday, March 15
5:00PM - 6:00PM

Austin Convention Center
Exhibit Hall 5
Austin Convention Center

The hallmark of today’s most beloved technology products and services is a tangible balance of design and engineering that perfectly blends form and function. Whether it’s an innovative thermostat like Nest, a novel digital magazine like Flipboard or a new payment system like Square, design has emerged as an essential component in both consumer and enterprise technology products and as a sought-after discipline at tech startups. In the inaugural Design and Technology Trends Report, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Design Partner John Maeda will provide a data-driven examination of the intersection of design and technology, its implications and manifestations, providing insights and best practices on how to harness the power of both great design and powerful engineering. Maeda will draw on examples from his past experiences as the President of Rhode Island School of Design and the head of the MIT Media Lab, as well as his current role as Design Partner at venture capital firm KPCB.
