Privacy Matters: Baking Privacy into Your Apps

Sunday, March 15
9:30AM - 10:30AM

JW Marriott
Salon 7
110 E 2nd St

"Privacy by design" is a nice concept, but what does it actually mean? When designing mobile devices and apps, engineers and developers are encouraged to think about privacy and security measures from the earliest stages of product development. This panel will discuss exactly how one does that, by focusing on specific cases in which the panelists have worked in order to provide clear takeaways for a general audience. We will talk about how to design secure hardware, how developers can think about limiting collection of data on mobile devices, and why these concepts matter to individuals who use services. In doing so, we'll make more concrete the sometimes vague concepts of privacy by design and robust security, in order to encourage others to do the same when developing exciting new products and services.
