In 2014, the band locked themselves away to focus on their highly anticipated debut album with German producer Jochen Naaf (Emeli Sandé, Xul Zolar). Following ‘Celestial’, ‘House Of Deer’ and ‘Upstairs’, ‘Ential’ is the first new track of their creative collaboration that showcases the band's development and once again climbed the Top 10 HypeMachine charts.
Singer Azhar Syed explains: "‘Ential’ focuses on key moments in life. Times when you transcend your own perspective and leave things behind in order to evolve. Of course, you may lose a lot of things on the way, but that's absolutely fine. It is a quite important topic for us, regarding both our personal and artistic frame of mind. "Ential" is a track that reflects our musical, lyrical and personal development and sounds like VIMES without being reduced to one genre or a particular sound."
„(...) a tune that once again showcases their undeniable skill at crafting a lush palette of electronic sounds.“ - Hillydilly
„Singer Azhar Syed’s voice has that same sort of tone as Benjamin Gibbard, but musically they also hit the best of both the indie and electronic worlds. “Ential” is the band’s latest single and it’s one of their strongest efforts to date.“ - Earmilk
"There’s more than a whiff of Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor wafting around Azhar Syed’s wispy coo" - The Line Of Best Fit
