For over twenty years, Jeneda and Clayson Benally were the heartbeat of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Native American punk band Blackfire. Their resistance songs caught on around the world, Joey Ramone, Cyril Neville and countless others recorded on their albums. But a few years ago, a new sound kicked in, replacing the anger…

Hope.

In their new band, Sihasin (Navajo for ‘hope’) Jeneda and Clayson have created an explosive sound out of just bass and drums, inspiring their listeners with a hard punk backbone, softened by folk, world and kept thumping by pop.

And so far it seems to be working…

The pair have won just about every award they can on the American Indian music scene, for their Ed Stasium produced album Never Surrender and are now mainstreaming with a Native American Showcase at SXSW, hot on the heels off last year, where the crowds are still humming along to ‘You Can’t Take Away My Hop...
