Prerequisites:
Prerequisite include having prior experience with coding at an advanced level and some experience working with large data sets. The intended audience for this workshop is developers, programmers, software engineers, and big data fans.
What to Bring:
If you’d like to participate, please bring your laptop to this workshop with Scala 2.10 installed, SBT 0.13, and the Spark 1.1 binary downloaded.
This workshop will explain how large scale, near real-time graph analytics will be a game changer for companies in the future. It's a hands on exploration of Spark, and a deep-dive into how to use Spark, running on Mesos, for the graph analysis of large enterprise data sets.
Learn how this amazing technology is already being deployed at cutting-edge companies to build recommendation engines, fraud detection systems, advanced search engines, and more.
The first hour will cover the technical underpinnings of successful graph analysis using Spark, including the tools, algorithms, and the data science needed to make it happen.
After a 10 minute break, we will deep-dive into using Spark to complete complex graph analysis of example enterprise data set and discuss the results of the exercises. Finally, if time permits, we will review some of the new technologies that exist for elegantly scaling Spark, such as Mesos.
